Hospitality in Healthcare Excellence Awards are to give recognition to members, non members & supporters who have achieved the following in the last 12 months:

  1. Upheld the mission / vision statement of Hospitality in Healthcare and promoted that in their workplace

(Mission - To provide our members with ongoing support through education, information updates, networking opportunities, seminars and national conferences.
Vision -Enhance the professional profile of support services in the healthcare industry)

  1. Upheld and promoted their organisations mission/ vision statement and values in their workplace through actions on a day to day basis.

There are 5 categories for the awards. They are:

Categories:

  • Brilliance in Service Award
  • Values in Actions / Exceptional Customer Service Award
  • Leadership Award
  • Sustainability Award
  • Project of the year Award

Brilliance in service award
Criteria:

  1. Aged care facility 100 beds or less and Hospital 150 bed of less.
  2. The person that excellent care to patients / residents / clients
  3. An individual or team which has gone above and beyond the call of duty
  4. An individual or team which has demonstrated treating people with respect along with displaying examples of meeting the values of the IHHC & their organisation during their daily duties __________________________________________________________________

 

Values in action / exceptional customer award

 

Leading by example and demonstrating our values to create a positive workplace culture that enables and supports people to lead and deliver excellent patient-centered care and high-quality services.

 

  1. Exemplify one or more of Hospitality in Healthcare or your organizations values (outline those values & identify which value you are referencing) to strengthen the delivery of healthcare for the people and communities we serve
  2. Contribute to a positive and welcoming workplace where people feel valued
  3. Encourage a culture of partnership and/or collaboration.
  4. Work practices and efforts have proven to provide a positive outcome for their clients/patients/residents.

Leadership award:

Fostering a culture of excellence by prioritizing the development of staff thought innovative techniques. This could include Safety, Compliance improvement, Budget & business improvement, management & Leadership. Empowering people through excellence in leadership, collaboration and team development.

Examples are:

  1. Display leadership through a spirit of collaboration, trust and recognition
  2. Identify strengths and empower others to maximize potential
  3. Foster excellence in organizational performance and/or productivity and client service.
  4. Develop innovative educational opportunities (both clinical and non-clinical) to meet identified learning needs and/or used innovative techniques to develop skills for staff and colleagues
  5. Strongly contributed to developing others, connecting teaching to business needs to support patient care.

Sustainability Award


Driving ideas into action through sustainability. This award recognises facilities or individuals who have implemented or continuously improved and expanded support-service waste reduction programs on the path to sustainability. Areas include food / product waste reduction, waste storing programs, repurposing food/clinical items through donation programs, composting, recycling, upcycling, repurposing, water conservation, improving use of reusable, and working toward zero emission goals as set by your organisation & the government.

Key points:

  1. Demonstrate the impact and document outcomes
  2. Savings related to carbon and sustainability initiatives
  3. Evaluate and measurement of outcomes.
  4. Comparison to industry norms and best practices
  5. Continuous improvement and evolution of initiative_

 

Project of the year Award

Driving ideas into action through innovative approaches, service improvement in a project they have developed in their organisation / workplace. Examples may be a new initiative or activity that has enhanced the service to clients and made improvements to the business.

Some examples are:

  1. Invite challenge and positively challenge others to create innovative, practical solutions by moving outside of standard thinking practices
  2. Actively encourage bold thinking and embrace new ideas to deliver improved performance and health outcomes
  3. Demonstrate a proven ability to respond positively to change and work across boundaries to develop effective solutions

Applications close on Sunday 24th May  2026 at 17.00hrs (AEST), 16.30hrs (ACST), 15.00hrs (AWST) (nominations have been extended!)

Judging will commence by a panel of judges after the closing time.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in your state once judging has completed during June 2026. Check out the IHHC website www.ihhc.org.au/events/ for details of the awards ceremony in your local state.

All award nominees will be given complimentary registration to the Awards night.
