Two scholarships will be offered to parks and recreation students. The scholarships are competitive among all schools and all specialty areas so that the best two students in the state will be selected. Application must have all the submittals required in order to be eligible for the award. Each scholarship will be $1000 and will be paid directly to the student. This is one method ARPA strives to help the parks and recreation profession and promote professionalism.

Guidelines for Eligibility:

• Applicant must be a parks and recreation major in a 2 Year, 4 Year or Graduate program attending an Arkansas college or university.

• Applicant must be a member of the Arkansas Recreation & Parks Association.

(Membership application and fee may accompany scholarship application.)

• Student must have completed 4 semester or 60 credit hours with a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in a 4 point grading system.

The following information must be included in the application. Please combine all information into one pdf.

1. Letter of recommendation from a faculty member on school letterhead

2. One page biography/resume written by the student to include school experience, volunteer experience work experience and future career path plan. Student should also include explanation of need and worthiness.

Applicants will be scored on a 1-5 scale using the following criteria:

Experience, Community service, Commitment to parks and recreation field, Need, Communication skills.
