The 6th Symposium of the Canadian Society for Virology, CSV2026, will be held between May 31-June 4, 2026 on the University of Guelph Campus in Ontario.
This 4-day symposium provides an opportunity for people of all levels of scientific research to present their research in person. Oral presentations and posters will be selected by the abstract review committee from submitted abstracts, based on the following topics:
- Breaking & Entering
- Expressing & Multiplying
- Suppressing & Conquering
- Building & Escaping
- Damaging & Spreading
- Fighting & Responding
- Discovering & Evolving
Presentation Format
CSV2026 welcomes abstract submission in two formats:
- Oral
- Poster
General Info
Proposals for abstract must be submitted online. The abstract review committee will rate abstracts only on the information provided, so please complete your submission carefully. Late abstracts are not guaranteed to be considered, so please submit your abstract by the deadline February 15, 2026. You will be able to modify your submission until the abstract deadline. NO EXTENSIONS FOR SUBMISSIONS WILL BE OFFERED AT CSV26.
Note: Registering/Submitting an abstract is not the same as registering for the conference. If you are selected to present at least one author must register to present.
Technical Instructions
The following information is required during the registration process
- Title: 250 Characters max
- Abstract: 250 Words max
Do not use character formatting such as italic, bold, or ALL CAPS in title and text. - Authors: For each author you will need to provide their name and institution.
It is important to include the presenter in the list of authors so their name appears in the order of authorship. The presenters name will be underlined in the book of abstracts. - Submitting Multiple Abstracts:
- From a Single Presenting Author: Please ensure that all abstracts from the same presenting author are added to one registration. You can do this during the registration process on the "Your Abstracts" page or by logging into your profile to add them later.
- From Different Presenting Authors: Please submit each abstract under a different registration.

Poster Dimensions
Maximum size is 48" x 48"
Review Process
The abstract review committee will do a review of submitted abstracts. At least two reviewers will grade each abstract. Ties will be decided by the committee chair.
Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent to all authors by March 31, 2026. A subset of abstracts will be selected for oral presentation; all others will be accepted as posters.
