The Texas Association of Builders (TAB) Excellence under 45 Awards program is dedicated to highlighting and rewarding young professionals who have committed their time, efforts, and careers to the Texas building industry.  The program is designed to acknowledge their hard work and successes, reward their performance and dedication, and showcase them as future leaders of the industry across our state.

The awards program provides industry education and networking for professional growth in the residential building industry and helps program participants become better, more knowledgeable, and more productive employees.

Applicants can be nominated by an industry peer, mentor, co-worker, or by the person themself. To complete the selection process, read through the guidelines and links below. The application contains two short, straightforward portions: basic professional information and a short-answer written essay or YouTube submission.

To be considered for TAB’s Excellence under 45 Awards program, nominees must submit their application by Wednesday, September 30, by 5 p.m.

Judges will score on:

• Professionalism in the Building Industry
• Goals and Responsibilities Inherent to their Job Description
• Participation or Activities with the Texas Association of Builders
• Participation or Activities with their Local Home Builders Association
• Extra-curricular Activities Outside of the Association
• Recommendations and Accomplishments (supplemental)

TAB’s Excellence under 45 Awards program Guidelines:

• Nominees must be employed by an active member of the Texas Association of Builders between the ages of 21 and 45 to be considered.
• No more than one company nominee may be chosen as a recipient of the Excellence under 45 awards program per year.
• Individuals who were awarded the previous year are not eligible for consideration in consecutive award programs but may apply again after a two-year span.
• The number of award recipients will be determined at the time of judging based on the quality and scope of applications.
• A panel of industry professionals will review applications and essays and/or YouTube submissions.
• The Judges' Panel shall consist of a mix of industry professionals: Associate, Remodeler, and Builder members; Seasoned and Young members.
• If a TAB Young Professionals Council member chooses to enter the Excellence under 45 Awards, he/she cannot serve on the Judges' Panel.
• Winners will be notified by mid-October via email from TAB.
• Award winner is responsible for their own transportation and any incidental costs accrued, including additional in-room costs and charges.
• *Headshots and video submissions of winners may be used publicly following selection and for marketing of the awards program.

Program Schedule:

• August 17  – Call for Entries Open
• September 30 – Entries Close
• October 5 - 9 – Judging occurs
• October 14 – Recipients will be notified by email
• November 10 - 12 – TAB Committee and BOD Meetings
• November 11 – Excellence in Leadership Dinner and Presentation at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano, TX

Selected applicants will receive:

• One night’s lodging (Tuesday, November 11) at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano, TX
• Two tickets to the Excellence in Leadership Dinner and Presentation, Tuesday, November 11 at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano, TX
• Honorees will be recognized in various ways:
  o    TABloid
  o    TAB Social Media Coverage
  o    Texas Builder Magazine
  o    Award Presentation at the Excellence in Leadership Dinner and Presentation
