Whitehaven University Scholarship 2027
(administered by the QMEA Scholarship Service)
These Whitehaven University Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who have demonstrated leadership, community spirit and commitment to entering a mining engineering pathway.
There are two $10,000 scholarships available. *Each scholarship consists of two $5,000 payments.
To be eligible for the Whitehaven University Scholarship 2027, applicants must:
- Have completed Year 12 in 2025 (gap year) or 2026.
- Be an Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen.
- Reside in either Isaac or Central Highlands Local Government Area and attended one of the following QMEA schools: Clermont SHS; Dysart SHS; Middlemount SHS; Moranbah SHS; Blackwater SHS; Capella SHS; Emerald SHS; Marist College, Emerald; Whitsunday Anglican School, Mackay; Rockhampton Girls Grammar; The Cathedral College, Rockhampton.
- Enrolling at a recognised Queensland university.
- Understand that the first payment is subject to the recipient providing evidence of enrolment in an engineering degree.
- *Understand that the second payment is subject to the recipient providing evidence of enrolment in a civil, materials, mechanical or mechatronics engineering major in their second year of study.
Students wishing to apply for the Whitehaven University Scholarship should:
1. Click on Submit an Entry and complete the Registration Form and the Submission Form.
2. Upload a Letter of Support (from a Principal, Teacher or Member of the Community).
3. Upload a copy of your last Report Card.
4. Complete and upload the Scholarship Declaration Form.
5. Ensure all documentation is uploaded and all fields completed and click Submit.

Applications OPEN: Monday 10 August 2026
Applications CLOSE: 5:00pm Friday 12 February 2027
Interviews held: mid-March 2027
Announcement of Successful Recipients: early-April 2027
