Welcome to the World's Most Boring Story Contest!
Do you think your story is too boring to be a book? Prove it! Your entry should contain a few highlights of your story and why it's too boring to be a book. And don't forget to tell your friends! They can help vote your story the most boring!
Contest Details:
- Your entry should be a real story about your real life (name changes for privacy are fine). This is not a "bad fiction" contest.
- You may only submit one entry.
- Your entry should be between 500-1000 words.
- There is a non-refundable entry fee of $25 USD (it helps cover our costs and keeps the bots out).
- Submissions close at 11:59pm Pacific Time on July 31, 2026.
- Public voting is available throughout the submission period, and remains open for another 10 days, until 11:59pm Pacific Time on August 10, 2026.
- The winner will be announced on August 15, 2026.
- The grand prize is non-transferable. If you win, you agree to work with us to write and publish your boring book!

How We Handle Your Information
By registering for the contest, either as an entrant or as a voter, you agree to be contacted by both GhostMode.boo and Brian Kurian's Business Services. We will not sell or rent your information. You may opt out of either or both of our mailing lists at any time.
The Legalese
- The contest is conducted in English. Entries in languages other than English will be disqualified.
- Entries found to be plagiarized will be disqualified. Please contact us if you believe someone has submitted your story under their name.
- Your entry will be posted anonymously on our public voting page during the contest, and on our public gallery page afterward. By submitting your entry, you agree that we may publish your entry under these terms.
- You retain ownership of your entry, including the right to publish it elsewhere in the same or another form.
- Public voting is limited to 1 vote per user. Use of scripts, bots or incentives to artificially inflate vote counts is strictly prohibited and will cause your entry to be disqualified.
- Contest finalists are selected at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. Public voting constitutes a selection factor not to exceed 20% of the total judging critera. Entries must also meet the following criteria to achieve finalist status: Mundane Plot 20%; Flat Characters 20%; Uninspiring Theme 20%; Lifeless Style 10%; Technical Execution 10%.
- One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a ghostwriting and publishing package, to be claimed within thirty (30) days from the contest ending date which is August 15, 2026. Unclaimed prizes may be awarded to an alternate recipient at the sole discretion of the Sponsors.
- The approximate retail value (ARV) of the Grand Prize is $9,000 USD. Winner is responsible for any applicable taxes. No cash value.
- The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
